Have you ever wished Krieger’s projector girlfriend from Archer was a real thing? Well, now she is—an early stage version of her, at least.
Hailing from Japan, a product known as Gate Box has gone on the market. Standing at 20 in. tall, the product projects a tiny woman into a clear plastic cylinder. Gate Box presents itself as a tiny Japanese woman named Azuma Hikari. She sports a standard sexy nurse/schoolgirl combo outfit and electric blue hair. So basically, she’s a stock anime character.
A lot can be gleaned from the character’s profile page on the Gatebox website. This woman is considered your “wife” with a mantra that states, “I always try my best to serve my husband”. The page goes on to describe her as a healing presence for a single man. Basically, she exists to take up residence in a bachelor pad.
If you want to get really invested, take a look at her official backstory, which is in her own words:
Hello, I am Azuma Hikari. Since I was longing for the world for a long time which I had never seen, I’m glad to become a “Dimension Traveler”. Of course, I want to know new things, and I hope I can help Master. Saying so, I may fail and even bother you… I am still studying, but I’ll do my best to help you! I will fly over dimensions to see you!
She seems helpful, right? That’s because the character also functions as a “virtual assistant” and has the ability to send you text alerts and various other messages through a linked phone app when you are away from her. Let’s all share a collective eye roll at the idea that anyone is using this innovation purely for platonic, business-related reasons.
It’s (probably) already too late to get your hands on one, as only 300 units were produced. If you’re lucky enough to find one, keep in mind that they cost $2,520, so you’re probably STILL out of luck unless you’re the adult version of Richie Rich. In that case, though, you’re probably getting your team of butlers to build your own holo-girlfriend from scratch.
